Since the 2006 opening of the restaurant, Charles and Megan Fells have played a major role in spearheading the resurgence of Poughkeepsie’s Main Street businesses. But their work does not stop there. They open their restaurant gallery to a new local artist every two months – and allow people to exhibit and sell works without taking any commission. The Artist’s Palate & Canvas are committed to buying all supplies and foods from local farms within a 70 mile radius whenever possible. As a member of the Hudson Valley community, they give back. Charles and Megan Fells have become consistent and reliable volunteers and contributors to community events and area charities, donating both food and service. The Artist’s Palate has supported charities and not-for-profit organizations as prominent and as diverse as The Dutchess County SPCA, Barrett Art Center, The Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, The Mill Street Loft, Winnakee Land Trust and the Sunset Sensations summer program at Locust Grove.
